A big question for new Chicago Bears head coach Ben Johnson lies in what the plan is for the offense moving forward. The former Lions offensive coordinator has inherited a solid core to work with, but it’s about the system in place that will benefit what Chicago has on its’ roster right now.
Caleb Williams has Rome Odunze, Cole Kmet and DJ Moore to sling the rock to right now, and that doesn’t include any potential offseason additions that the front office might make.
Johnson delivered a message to Williams and the rest of the offense in his introductory press conference on Wednesday that it is going to take everyone to build this thing up the right way. Things will take time for everyone to grow and mesh together. The new man in charge acknowledged the fact that it will not be easy right away with how tough the NFC North is.
Ben Johnson will run a different offense for the Chicago Bears
Johnson made it known in his press conference that things will look much different in Chicago offensively than from his time in Detroit. Courtney Cronin reported that Johnson expects change based on who he has with the Bears compared to his squad with the Lions.
Ben Johnson on building the Bears offense: "It's not going to look like it did in Detroit. Notes how the personnel in Chicago looks "completely different" than it did in Detroit.

What exactly will be changed is not known yet, as it’s too early to tell. However, Williams is a much different quarterback than Jared Goff, and the weapons in Chicago aren’t the same either. Johnson plans to enter his first season as a head coach with a completely new play book around his franchise quarterback. This is what is best for the team, as keeping a similar scheme for different personnel doesn’t always work. Johnson has acknowledged that and his plan to switch things up should only be to the organization’s benefit.
