The Chicago Bears had a horrific 5-12 season, but could next year prove to have them have the NFLs next MVP?
What started out as what was supposed to be a promising season with the Chicago Bears starting the year at 4-2, dissolved into a ten game losing streak and having a disastrous loss in Thanksgiving Day game to the Detroit Lions, which led to the firing of Head Coach Matt Eberflus.
With the season now over and the Chicago Bears in search of their next Head Coach, the Bears hope to bounce back next year. With Caleb Williams set to hopefully be better than he was this year, could he be in the running for the MVP and lead the Bears to the playoffs next season?
Caleb Williams first season in the league
Drafted with the first overall pick in last years draft the Chicago Bears picked Caleb Williams to be there franchise Quarterback to get them back into the playoffs for the first time in five years. Sadly, that wasn’t the case with them finishing last in the division and being ranked as one of the worst teams in the NFL offensively.
Caleb Williams had a decent rookie season with having the natural struggles a rookie Quarterback would have adjusting to being in the NFL. Finishing the season with 20 TD passes with throwing 6 interceptions, with 3541 passing yards, and having a completion percentage of 62.5 percent Williams had a respectable rookie campaign.
In his recent comments Williams expressed how excited he was for this upcoming offseason he was by saying:
“This offseason’s gonna be a big offseason for me and I’m excited about it,” Williams said. I have things, maturity-wise, of playing the position that I’m excited about learning. Things are gonna take time and I’m well aware of that and OK with that, but I’m definitely going to try and push myself to exhaustion mentally and physically this offseason to be able to withstand a long season.”
With that being the case Caleb Williams should come back ready and hungry to be better next year with having a full season already under his belt.
What to expect next year for Caleb Williams?
Having a full season behind him and ready to start getting to work this offseason to come back better next year, Caleb Williams is primed to have a monster season for the Bears next year. I believe that Williams having a full offseason to train and get better acquainted with his offensive weapons in Keenan Allen and D.J. Moore, it’s highly possible that Williams will be in the running receive votes and possibly win the MVP award next year.
Could Caleb Williams actually win the MVP?
Caleb Williams who has drawn comparisons to being the next Patrick Mahomes and has shown flashes of being like Mahomes could definitely be in completion for the MVP award. If Williams can up his TD passes to around thirty for next season with keeping his interception totals where they are and throwing over 4,000 yards, Williams will definitely finish in the top five for the vote.
Being that the Chicago Bears have never had a Quarterback in their history throw for over 4,000 years Caleb Williams would make history for the Bears by accomplishing that feat and hopefully boost his chances at winning the MVP award for next year.
