The Chicago Bears off-season is underway, and the next step of this long offseason is free agency. Head coach Ben Johnson will work with GM Ryan Poles to determine who they should try to sign in this year’s free agency class.
The Bears have plenty of cap space this off-season, so they will have plenty of options in free agency and the draft.
Ryan Poles and Ben Johnson need to upgrade many positions on this Bears roster, including the edge rusher, the offensive line, and some depth in the secondary. However, they could also look to improve on wide receiver. Keenan Allen is expected to leave this upcoming off-season, and they could use some additional help in that position.
Brad Biggs of the Chicago Tribune revealed on 670 The Score there is one specific player that Ben Johnson could pursue in this year’s free agency.
.@BradBiggs doesn't see Cooper Kupp as a fit for Bears.
"We're not going to play fantasy football superstar here for their third wide receiver," he says. "That's not going to be what they're going to do."
Biggs provides a more realistic option.

The Chicago Bears could potentially target former Detroit Lions WR Tim Patri.ck

Biggs went on to explain that the Bears will not attempt to trade for Rams star receiver Cooper Kupp, however, he named Tim Patrick as a name to watch.
Patrick ended the 2024 season with 394 yards and three touchdowns on only 44 targets. Patrick started his career with two solid seasons in Denver, but unfortunately tore his ACL in 2022 and then tore his Achilles in 2023. Thankfully, he stayed healthy in 2024 and was very impressive yet having limited opportunities.
Patrick is a speedy yet very physical football player, his biggest attribute is that he is great on the run block around the perimeter. Having as physical receiver that can run block well would especially help improve the Bears running game and could contribute to D’Andre Swift having an improved 2025 season.
Having an additional speedy wide receiver can definitely open up the Chicago Bears passing attack as well. Patrick can be a reliable player in 2025, if healthy.
With free agency just a few weeks away, it will be interesting to see what Ryan Poles and the Bears do to improve this football team.
