T’vondre Sweat, Texas
At six-foot-four, 366 pounds, T’vondre Sweat is a hulk of a man who can plug up a hole. While he may not be explosive off the snap, he will require attention to move him. With him getting that attention, the Chicago Bears’ linebackers can move around without dealing with a lot of traffic. We saw how the linebackers made plays last season. They can continue doing so in 2024.
Sweat has the strength to easily move blockers backward. He will devour those block attempts. causing havoc for opposing offenses. Against the run, he has a wide base and he roots his legs to the ground and it takes a village of people to move him. His hands are violent and he can knock linemen off-balance.
Even without a lot of quickness, Sweat’s strength and size allow him to crater the pocket if a lineman takes him one-on-one. While he may not get to the quarterback, he opens up space so his teammates can make the plays. Additionally, he will provide the starter much-needed rest to be well-rested late in games.
The Chicago Bears will need to monitor Sweat’s legal trouble. He was recently arrested for suspicion of drunk driving. If that gets cleared up, he can be a valuable rotational player on the defensive line.
