Brock Bowers, Tight End, Georgia
As mentioned earlier, Poles signed Everett to help shore up the tight ends unit. However, the Chicago Bears still need a third tight end. Many people talk about Williams being a “generational” talent. They say the same about Brock Bowers.
Poles prioritizes having athletic players. That fits Bowers. He has great long speed and elite explosiveness. He gives the Chicago Bears flexibility on offense. He can line up at the normal tight end spot or in the slot, causing mismatches. With his speed and explosiveness, he can also take the ball on a jet sweep or even line up in the backfield.
Bowers does a great job of making contested catches. He has great hands and focuses well in traffic. With his combination of speed, strength, and vision, he can provide a lot of yards after the catch. This is something rare in tight ends. Also, it is something that Chicago Bears targets have struggled with over the years.
Bowers is best when he is moving across the field (i.e. seam routes, crossing routes). That utilizes his excellent athleticism.
Imagine having three athletic, good route-runners at the tight end position. Throw in the improved wide receivers unit and D’Andre Swift and Roschon Johnson from the backfield and Williams will have great targets all over the field. One thing is for sure, he will be entering the best situation any number-one pick has ever gotten.
