The Marc Trestman era in Chicago is officially over.
The Chicago Bears have fired the head coach after just 2 years on the job. Trestman finished with a 13-19 record in two seasons including 3-9 against the NFC North. Trestman was named head coach after the 2012 season where the Bears went 10-6 with Lovie Smith. The following season the Bears finished 8-8 lost the NFC North on the final game of the season to the Green Bay Packers. This season, the Bears regressed leading up to the change at head coach.
Trestman released a statement:
“I want to thank Virginia, George and the McCaskey family, Phil Emery and Ted Phillips for giving me the opportunity to be the head coach of the Chicago Bears. I also want to thank all the coaches and players who gave us everything we asked over the past two years. I have tremendous respect for this organization. Chicago is a special city with great fans. I appreciate the warm support my family and I received. ”
The Bears have also fired general manager Phil Emery. Emery is set to meet the media at 11:30 a.m. CST
The Bears will now look for coaching candidates with a few names swirling around.
