Round 4: Zach Frazier, Center/OL – West Virginia
Getting Frazier this late would be highway robbery, Luckily, the Bears will likely have a high pick in the fourth round, and possibly even more picks in this round if they trade back. Frazier fills a need that needs desperate attention, and that is the center position. We all know how they currently fare at this spot, and needless to say they need to move on from Cody Whitehair.
At 6’3, 310 pounds; Frazier is a monster inside, and seems to move opponents at will in the run game. He’s very quick out of his stance, and quite athletic when you consider his size. His motor is second to none.
What you’re looking at here, folks, is the best center in college football.
Put this one in the time capsule as the ultimate example of what coaches mean when they say “finish” … pic.twitter.com/Zf6ySfdnd2

Frazier moved to center during his sophomore year, and while it was a struggle at first (3 allowed sacks in 2021,) he quickly adjusted and had a 2022 campaign, in which he allowed just one sack. Thus far in 2023, he’s been a force for the Mountaineers, and his draft stock is rising rather fast.
His technique as a whole needs work, especially as a pass blocker. However, this 2024 class is pretty thin at center, so I believe the risk is worth it, and one Poles needs to take. It won’t matter who’s throwing the ball for the Chicago Bears next year if this offensive line can’t find some continuity, and for that they need a legit center.
