Round 4 (via Philadelphia): Jack Sawyer, EDGE – Ohio State
The Chicago Bears made a massive trade with the Washington Commanders just before the trade deadline this past month, where they acquired EDGE rusher Montez Sweat for their 2024 second-round pick. There’s been much discussion and debate regarding that move, but what’s done is done, and it will at the very least make their pass rush a bit better.
The Bears will definitely need to add another EDGE rusher at some point in the draft, and I believe Sawyer could be a great gamble to take. The Ohio State junior had big hopes this season, but his sack numbers aren’t as high as some expected, and as a result his draft stock is taking a bit of dip.

Sawyer was a five-star prospect in high school and joined OSU after being heavily recruited. He offers an explosive first step off the line, elite size and physicality, and a very nasty spin move. The little things need to be worked on, and he has to become a better factor in run defense.
A work in progress, for sure, as most late fourth rounders are. Sawyer has a chance to improve his stock with an impressive CFP run with OSU, but I think he’ll be available in the third or fourth.
