Round 1, Pick 10: TE Tyler Warren, Penn State / 6’6, 256 lbs

This would be such a perfect Ben Johnson selection.
Tyler Warren reminds me of a taller, stronger version of Sam LaPorta, the Lions tight end who Johnson helped draft, who has now turned into a premier tight end in the league. Warren is a red-zone threat with great hands and sneaky athleticism. He could fit perfectly next to Cole Kmet in 12-personnel sets, which Johnson used often in Detroit.

As a fifth-year senior, Warren emerged as a top prospect, having his best statistical year to date, catching 104 passes for 1,233 yards and reaching the endzone 8 times. He also ran in 4 touchdowns. The former QB was a first-team All-American in 2024 and will look to build on that going into his rookie season in the NFL.
His run-blocking improved throughout the year, but I still believe that is his biggest downfall, however that can be improved upon. Warren will also need to clean up his route running to be the best version of himself. Johnson would have a load of fun with Warren and Kmet.
