Round 3, Pick 72: OT Marcus Mbow, Purdue / 6’4, 303 lbs
Marcus Mbow might be my favorite “upside” pick in this entire draft. At six-four, the former Purdue Boilermaker can play either tackle position, or guard position, and offers some insane raw talent and strength. Something the Chicago Bears could use more of in the trenches.
After an injury-riddled 2023 season, Mbow came back with a vengeance at right tackle, helping lead a very good Purdue offensive line. The questions come with his arm length, which is less than ideal for a tackle, but we’ve seen many offensive linemen put that concern to rest over the past few seasons. It will be more about his technique and ability to develop rather than his size.
Marcus Mbow is a genuinely hilarious player to watch.
Athletic, toolsy player gifted with MMA hand technique unlike anything I’ve seen…
Production concerns muddy his profile but he has legit upside. Day 2 player at RT or G. pic.twitter.com/Wa8Twq0oXZ

Even after the additions of players like Jonah Jackson, Drew Dalman, and Joe Thuney, the Bears still need to look at drafting a tackle. If not at this point in the draft, even earlier. And I think they do if trading back becomes a reality, which is seeming more likely by the day.
The common theme of the 2025 NFL Draft among many scouts is depth. It’s said that this could be a draft that’s won in the 3rd-5th rounds, meaning film study and big boards will have more importance than usual.
Mbow could mold into a starter if he’s developed correctly and sits behind some veterans for a few years.
