The Chicago Bears’ quarterback situation just got more complicated.
Brian Hoyer left the game in the second quarter with what appears to be a left forearm injury and was replaced by third-string quarterback Matt Barkley. He will not return to the game.

It’s a rough blow for Hoyer, who has done well, if not spectacularly, in his relief of the injured Jay Cutler. If Hoyer is out for an extended period of time, it raises the question as to who will take his place under center for the foreseeable future.
Barkley, who completed his first NFL pass since being a member of the Philadelphia Eagles in 2013, will certainly play out the rest of this game (barring injury). However, with Hoyer’s status uncertain, it will be worth watching to see if Cutler makes his return next week at home against the Minnesota Vikings after missing four weeks with a torn thumb ligament.
For now, though, it seems as though Hoyer’s campaign as the Chicago Bears’ starting quarterback is over.
