Having a solid third wide receiving option next to D.J. Moore and Rome Odunze is a priority for the Chicago Bears front office to address this offseason. Caleb Williams is getting ready to enter his second season in the NFL and things should look much differently around him when camp begins.
Along with securing a third wide out for the former number one overall pick, his protection unit should be massively upgraded over the next couple of months. Williams was sacked a league-high 68 times last season which is something that simply cannot happen anymore.
The Bears have nearly $70 million in cap space to work with and three draft picks in the first two rounds come April. On top of their needs in the trenches, these resources can go toward shoring up the weapons that Williams will have to throw to this upcoming season. Despite all of the free agent receivers on the market and in the draft, a 2024 Bears wide out is more than open to a reunion in the Windy City.
Keenan Allen open to returning to the Chicago Bears

Scott Bair of Marquee Sports Network mentioned that bringing Allen back to the organization should not be ruled out, but things might be different now with a new coaching staff officially in place.
“I spoke to Keenan Allen near last season’s end, and he’s open to the prospect of a return to the Bears,” Bair wrote. “That was obviously before Ben Johnson got hired, and I’d expect his addition only strengthened Allen’s resolve. He said he’d like to play in Los Angeles or Chicago, narrowing focus to three teams.”
Bair went on to mention that the money would have to be right for Chicago as well in order to make an Allen deal work. Even though the Bears have great financial capital to make any deal happen, they’ll want to use it wisely with all of the needs that have to be addressed for the 2025 squad.
Along with a major overhaul on the offensive line, a dynamic edge rusher will have to be added and a new running back should join the fray as well ahead of 2025. Asset management will be the name of the game for Ryan Poles and he will look to use his resources in the strongest way possible to covering all of his bases in the offseason.
The Chicago Bears have other candidates besides Keenan Allen

An important thing to note for new head coach Ben Johnson is that he likes to play fast offensively. Speed is a big part of his scheme despite the fact that he is ripping down the playbook and building it from scratch around Williams. The offensive guru had plenty of speedy receivers to work with in Detroit and more of the same is expected during his first season with the Bears.
A notable free agent that fits Johnson’s mold is Hollywood Brown from the Kansas City Chiefs. He is coming off an injury and shouldn’t demand too much money as a free agent on a short term contract. Based on playstyle, Brown fits what Chicago is looking for more than Allen and he would come at a fraction of the cost. The draft is always a possibility to for the Bears to add to their receiving core, but going after a proven commodity makes much more sense for Chicago’s front office.
