Round 1, #10 Overall — Tyler Warren, Tight End, Penn State
The Chicago Bears make a surprise move right off the bat. Yes, there are some who want this move made. However, many others feel that with the question surrounding Jones perhaps another offensive lineman should be selected. Poles has a plan, though. We will see that in just a bit.
Johnson loves using the 12-personnel, or a running back and two tight ends. Tight ends have been critical in his success with Detroit. In his three seasons as Lions offensive coordinator, his tight ends have had 784,1008, and 848 yards. They added 12, 11, and 9 touchdowns.
The Chicago Bears already signed Durham Smythe as a tight end. He is more of a blocking tight end, though. Tyler Warren helps with the passing game. He is the top tight end in this class. He does everything well — he runs great routes, has good hands, is physical, and blocks well.
The 6-foot-5, 256-pounder uses his physicality to make the contested catch. He uses his athleticism and quickness to be a dangerous run-after-the-catch player. Additionally, he can line up in multiple areas and create mismatches.
Warren and Cole Kmet can give the Chicago Bears the best tight end duos in the league. Both can be weapons in the passing game and give Williams two big targets to go after. That is especially helpful in the red zone.
Selecting Warren would help give the Chicago Bears a dynamic offense.

A little fyi Josh Simmons didn’t have an ACL tear. It was far worse. The patella tendon. Grade 3. No OL has ever come back from this injury. Not full strength. Jimmy Graham is the exception. Except he doesn’t block 300 pound DE for a living. The consensus is that At Best, since he’s young and hungry, he could come back at close to 80-90% power he once had. At best. And 10-20% less power is the equivalent of a sandwich block and being driven into the QB.
