Round 2, #41 Overall — Mike Green, EDGE, Marshall
As we have seen with the Chicago Bears in the recent past, they could never have enough players in the trenches. Despite signing Dayo Odeyingbo on the edge, having another one will not hurt. The Bears select Mike Green out of Marshall.
The 6-foot-3, 251 pound Green has all the tools you want in an edge rusher. He has the quickness, explosiveness, bend, and agility to succeed. There are many scouts who believe he could be a double-digit sack producer at the higher level.
Green can still fill out his frame and add to his strength. Once he does that he could be very dangerous. His first step is explosive and he can get past the blocker in the blink of an eye. He also plays with a high motor. He is all effort, all of the time, and can wear would-be blockers down as the game progresses.

A little fyi Josh Simmons didn’t have an ACL tear. It was far worse. The patella tendon. Grade 3. No OL has ever come back from this injury. Not full strength. Jimmy Graham is the exception. Except he doesn’t block 300 pound DE for a living. The consensus is that At Best, since he’s young and hungry, he could come back at close to 80-90% power he once had. At best. And 10-20% less power is the equivalent of a sandwich block and being driven into the QB.
