Round 7, #240 — Nazir Stackhouse, Defensive Tackle, Georgia
The Chicago Bears go to the trenches one more time with their final pick of the draft. They select Nazir Stackhouse out of Georgia.
Stackhouse can back up Andrew Billings at the nose. We saw how the defensive line collapsed when Billings went down last season. He did all of the things that freed up his defensive line mates that many did not notice. They became very noticeable when he was out.
Stackhouse does the same thing. He will do the dirty work and take up space so his teammates can receive the glory. HIs size (6-foot-3, 327 pounds) and strength help him clog up the running lanes and disrupt offenses. He also has the intelligence to diagnose a play and make adjustments on the fly.
Stackhouse could be an excellent choice to help play in a rotation and help keep the defensive line fresh throughout the season.

A little fyi Josh Simmons didn’t have an ACL tear. It was far worse. The patella tendon. Grade 3. No OL has ever come back from this injury. Not full strength. Jimmy Graham is the exception. Except he doesn’t block 300 pound DE for a living. The consensus is that At Best, since he’s young and hungry, he could come back at close to 80-90% power he once had. At best. And 10-20% less power is the equivalent of a sandwich block and being driven into the QB.
