Trade: The Chicago Bears trade the 149th overall pick to the Seattle Seahawks for the 169th and 187th overall picks.
Round 5, #169 Overall — Jake Majors, Center, Texas
The Chicago Bears solidify the offensive line even more with the pick of Jake Majors. The 6-foot-3, 306 pound Majors gives the Bears an experienced center. He is a five-year player and started for four of them. Additionally, he managed to improve after each season.
Majors is technically sound and he plays with poise. He adds athleticism to the offensive line unit. He has the ability to pull and get to the second level with ease. His football IQ is off the chart which makes him a coach’s dream player. Moreover, he plays with toughness, something the Chicago Bears have lacked.
Majors is well-balanced and uses his punch effectively to stall bull rushes. He is smart, tough, and reliable with great understanding of protections. He understands stunts and twists so he can handle them well.
The knock on Majors is his short arms. His arms measured in at 30 and 3/8 inches. That means he will likely be a center only at the pro level. However, his other tools and his intelligence can make him become a good starting center at this level.
