Round 6, #187 Overall — Aeneas Peebles, Defensive Tackle, Virginia Tech
As mentioned earlier, the Chicago Bears need some depth at the defensive line. After drafting an edge rusher, they go with the interior line by selecting Aeneas Peebles. We saw what happened when Andrew Billings went down with an injury in 2024. The rush defense plummeted from number one in 2023 to 28th.
At 6-feet-.5 and 282 pounds, Peebles is a little undersized to be a starter. However, the three-year starter has the flexibility to line up over tackle, guard, and center. He has good athleticism and blasts off the snap. His pass rush is impressive. He recorded 11.5 sacks in his college career, 8 of them in the past two seasons.
Peebles also has the ability to get into the backfield. In the past two seasons he had 74 tackles, 16 of them for loss. His high motor is great. He just keeps coming and wears down blockers. He would be a very good backup for the defensive line.
