Round 7, #187 Overall, Jermari Harris, Cornerback, Iowa
The Chicago Bears could use some added depth at cornerback. Jermari Harris could provide that depth. The 6-foot, 191-pound Harris had a productive career at Iowa. After playing in just seven games in his first two seasons, he played in 35 in the last three. In those final three seasons, he recorded 8 interceptions and 19 passes defended.
Harris is an excellent man coverage corner. He limits the big play. In 2024, he allowed just 14 yards when he was in man coverage. While he does not have elite top-end speed, he has good acceleration and can stay with most receivers. He is also a good press defender and is physical.
Harris has good instincts and route recognition. Those skills allow him to jump routes and pick passes off. Additionally, he does a good job of shedding wide receivers’ block attempts.
Harris is a local kid. We know how much Poles loves picking up local players to be on the Chicago Bears roster. He can use a seventh round pick on Harris and it would not cost much to have him.
