Round 2, #39 Overall — Mike Green, EDGE, Marshall
Despite signing edge rusher Dayo Odeyingbo, the Chicago Bears pick up another one, Mike Green. The Bears have had trouble getting to the quarterback. Getting as many edge rushers who have high motors and continue to go after the quarterback helps keep the pass rush fresh throughout the game.
Green has a good combination of bend, explosiveness, and agility. Also, he has a good pass rush plan. There are many who feel he could be a consistent double-digit sack rusher in the league. He has an incredible first step and can blow past a blocker in the blink of an eye.
When Green makes his move to the backfield he has a number of moves that can free him up. He can go around or through the edge protections and he has the ability to quickly change directions to break free and find the ball carrier. While some feel he should bulk up a little, his speed and athleticism causes a lot of matchup problems for would-be blockers.
