Trade: Chicago Bears receive the #42, #110 overall picks. The New York Jets receive #41, #148 overall.
Round 2, #42 Overall — Harold Fannin Jr, Tight End, Bowling Green
Here the Chicago Bears trade down one spot in the second round so they could move 38 spots and move from the fifth round into the fourth. With the 42nd overall pick the Bears select tight end Harold Fannin Jr out of Bowling Green.
In addition to having a great running back duo, Johnson loves to use the 12-personnel, or a running back with two tight ends. The Bears picked up Durham Smythe, formerly of the Miami Dolphins. However, he is more of a blocking tight end and won’t contribute much to the passing game.
Fannin can be another target for Williams. The more targets he can have the better his chances are of making big plays. Having targets in the backfield, the wide receivers, and the tight ends put an opposing defense on their heels. They will have to pick their poison and Williams will still have plenty of other targets.
Fannin is an explosive tight end who also has power. His style of play is similar to Deebo Samuel. The Chicago Bears can line him up in a variety of spots. He has a rock solid frame, and excellent contact balance. Additionally, he has the ability to make plays once he has the ball in his hands. He could turn a simple five yard pass into a huge gain. His relentlessness is incredible.
Fannin has great hands and good timing to get it at its peak. He will fight through defenders to make the catch. Once he hits the defender with his powerful stiff arm it is over. His high motor has him playing hard from the opening whistle to the final tick of the clock.
