Round 4, #110 Overall –Joshua Farmer, Defensive Tackle, Florida State
The Chicago Bears signed free agent defensive tackle Grady Jarrett. He joins Andrew Billings and Gervon Dexter in the interior of the defensive line. With the 110th overall pick, Poles selects Joshua Farmer out of Florida State to round out the quartet.
Farmer gives the Chicago Bears another high motor player who is relentless. He has a great blend of power and athleticism, which makes him a disruptor. He has excellent leverage and hand usage, which allow him to shed blockers and get into the backfield quickly.
Farmer has a quick first step and is able to generate a push. He is a force in both pass rushing and run stuffing. In addition, he adds versatility to the unit. He can line up in different locations so the Chicago Bears can use him in a number of different ways.
The 6-foot-3, 305-pounder has the size and power teams want. He has broad shoulders, long arms, and strong hands. there is nothing tricky with his game. He just comes at the blocker with a jarring punch that knocks people off balance. His size just takes up space up the middle, which will help affect the opponent’s run game.
Farmer would be a great rotational player for the Chicago Bears defensive line. He would complete the foursome that could help bring back the success of 2023.
