Chicago Bears Quarterback Caleb Williams appeared on a recent podcast and revealed how he was pranked.
Star quarterback for the Chicago Bears Caleb Williams appeared on the St. Brown Podcast hosted by Amon-Ra and Eqaunimeous St. Brown and revealed how he was pranked with the fake Ben Johnson phone number situation.
The catfish situation
Rumors have been swirling all offseason long on speculation on who the Chicago Bears will hire as their next head coach. The leading candidate for the position is current Detroit Lions Offensive Coordinator Ben Johnson who is the premier coaching option for all teams with a vacancy. Recently Bears star quarterback Caleb Williams was catfished into thinking that Ben Johnson texted him revealing that he was going to be their coach. Well, that all turned out to be a prank on Williams and not true whatsoever. On his recent appearance on the St. Brown Podcast Caleb Williams got candid about what had happened.
What actually happened
According to Williams he apparently reached out to Detroit Lions wideout Amon-Ra St. Brown to get Ben Johnson’s number in order to make sure he didn’t have a fake number with having a number similar to that of Johnson’s already in his contacts. St. Brown allegedly never responded to Williams. St. Brown in his defense thought that Williams was playing a joke on him, but Williams was saying his phone was being spammed by people claiming to be Johnson.
Not to long after not getting a response Caleb Williams apparently reached out to the number that was allegedly Ben Johnson. Calling the alleged Johnson it turned out it was not be Ben Johnson at all. Williams being the nice guy he is was very supportive of who he thought was Johnson with heaping praise on him for his accomplishments in text he sent the alleged number. Figuring out it was prank Williams quickly found the humor in it.
We can laugh about it now
Thankfully this was a honest little prank that Caleb Williams can now laugh about. Maybe some of this subtle humbling can help refocus and motivate Caleb Williams to come into training camp looking to becoming a beast for next season.
