With inside of four hours remaining until the 2025 NFL Draft gets underway, there hasn’t been a single trade involving a first-round pick made, and if that holds, it would be the first time that all 32 teams picked in their slotted selection since 1993.
That might be about to change, and the Chicago Bears could play a role in the first blockbuster of draft night.
The Jaguars are looking to trade

According to CBS Sports’ Aditi Kinkhabwala, the Jacksonville Jaguars could be looking for an escape hatch.
“These are not guarantees,” Kinkhabwala said Thursday afternoon. “These are not mere rumors. But, don’t be surprised, so, don’t be surprised if the Jaguars trade back.
“I’ve heard from multiple sources, and there are multiple people around the league saying the Jaguars have interest in big wide receiver Tet McMillan … But, they don’t need to pick him at five. They don’t need to pick him at six. They don’t need to pick him at seven. So, the Jags could be making a trade down to 10.”

The Bears trading up to No. 10 could be an ideal scenario both for Chicago and the Jaguars to emerge from the first round with a game-altering weapon for each of their respective offenses.
Per Diannia Russini of The Athletic, the Bears are calling to try and trade up for Jeanty.
“The Bears are among teams making calls in an attempt to trade up, per sources,” Russini wrote. “Teams believe Chicago is trying to move up from No. 10 in an effort to land Boise State RB Ashton Jeanty.”

Who the Chicago Bears could be targeting with NFL Draft trade

While it is entirely possible that general manager Ryan Poles and the Bears could be looking to move up the board to continue overhauling an offensive line that’s already seen the arrivals of veterans Drew Dalman, Jonah Jackson, and Joe Thuney this offseason, the Bears likely could be targeting an elite playmaker to help Caleb Williams.
Trading up with the Jaguars could put Chicago in position to add electrifying linebacker Ashton Jeanty, viewed by many executives across the league as one of the few truly blue-chip prospects in the entire class.
Dropping Jeanty, who averaged seven yards per carry last season at Boise State could be the kind of move that elevates the ceiling for head coach Ben Johnson’s offense, which thrived in Detroit thanks to the punishing backfield duo of Jahmyr Gibbs and David Montgomery.
Regardless of what happens Thursday night, the Jaguars sound like willing partners to help the Bears add one of the top players in this year’s draft.
