The Chicago Bears have gone all offense thus far in the 2025 NFL Draft, making it known that they will be a force on that side of the ball next season. After selecting tight end Colston Loveland 10th overall, and then Luther Burden III 39th, Chicago has added an offensive lineman to the mix by way of Boston College, Ozzy Trapilo.
Trapilo is a massive, 6’8 tackle who will be a force in pass protection if developed correctly. With his massive frame and strong football IQ, Trapilo will likely be in a training camp battle for the starting left tackle spot. The former BC Eagle played most of his collegiate career at right tackle, but was projected by scouts to be good playing on either side.
The message is clear from Ben Johnson’s new regime – the Bears are going to try and win with offense in 2025.
The Chicago Bears continue to fortify the offensive line by drafting Ozzy Trapilo

Last season, the Chicago Bears struggled to protect their rookie QB Caleb Williams. With multiple big moves occurring this offseason to fix that struggle, it’s clear that the effort is being made by the front office to bolster the interior line.
This selection makes sense when you consider Braxton Jones, the current starting left tackle for the Bears, is coming off his worst season and is likely to be replaced. Many mock drafts and scouts had Chicago taking a tackle even earlier.
Trapilo allowed just 5 sacks over 3 collegiate seasons, showing incredible production and attention to detail. I’m sure Poles and company considered that when making this selection. Poles also attended Boston College and was an offensive lineman himself, making this somewhat of a ‘homer’ pick.
Chicago Bears fans across social media are excited about the pick

With so many selections during the first two nights of the draft, the Bears needed to nail these picks. The luxury they had was not having too many needs per se. Of course, they needed to bolster certain areas to continue progressing, but taking the best available prospect was much more of a possibility this year.
As you’ll see below, this is a Ben Johnson pick. He worked with massive tackles in Detroit, like Taylor Decker, and looks to be attempting to replicate it here in Chicago.
Fans across the social media platform X, formerly known as Twitter, have expressed their opinions on the pick. Most are pretty excited, but in true Bear fashion, some are quite upset.
