It was a tough loss to the Detroit Lions yesterday at Solider Field which put the team out of a playoff spot with just seven games remaining. The team announced today that corner back Charles Tillman has been placed on injured reserve with the designation to return in eight weeks.
Tillman will miss the regular season but can return to the team if they make the playoffs. He should be available for the Wild Card round if the team makes it that far. Tillman was clearly bothered by the injury in yesterdays game as he was holding his arm multiple times and seen on the sidelines getting treatment.
The Bears defense and secondary takes another big hit in the injury department. They have had injuries to multiple starters including Henry Melton, Tillman, Lance Briggs, D.J. Williams and more.
Corner back Tim Jennings will move to the number one slot for the Bears and Zack Bowman is expected to fill on for Tillman.
Cutler week-to-week with high ankle sprain
Quarterback Jay Cutler suffered a high ankle sprain in the loss to the Lions and is listed as week-to-week. The injury seemed to bother Cutler in the second half and limit his mobility at times. Yet the quarterback remained out there until the final drive where backup Josh McCown took over and lead a scoring drive.
The Bears will evaluate Cutler later in the week to determine if he can play against Baltimore on Sunday.
