The Chicago Bears shocked the NFL world again this offseason, this time with a surprising pick in the first round of the 2025 NFL Draft.
Ryan Poles and Ben Johnson decided to select Michigan Tight End Colston Loveland with the 10th overall pick in the NFL draft. The Bears have decided to add another weapon for quarterback Caleb Williams. The 6-foot-6 Michigan Wolverine is a dynamic pass catcher and is expected to fit well into Ben Johnson’s offensive system.
While many people are shocked that Chicago did not go with Penn State tight end Tyler Warren, multiple national NFL analysts have had great things to say regarding the newest addition to the Bears roster.
The Chicago Bears are being praised by multiple NFL analysts regarding the Colston Loveland pick

In a post on X, eight-year NFL veteran and NFL analyst Clay Harbor had great things to say regarding the 10th overall pick, calling him a “matchup nightmare.”
“Loveland is a matchup nightmare. Runs like a WR is a big target and a willing blocker. He can play attached or out wide. A guy like this makes Johnson’s offense more multiple and the same things look different. Considering the board I LIKE the pick.“
Fox Sports analyst and former NFL Network host Peter Schrager also told Pat McAfee that the Colston Loveland pick was his “favorite pick in the draft so far.”
Via Pat McAfee:
“My favorite pick of the draft so far is Colston Loveland to the Chicago Bears. I absolutely love this.”

CBS Sports’ Pete Prisco said that Loveland will fit in Chicago’s offense.
Love the Loveland pick for the Bears. He fits in that offense.

A former NFL quarterback says the Chicago Bears have another weapon for Caleb Williams

Former NFL quarterback Robert Griffin III had plenty of positive things to say about the newest addition to the Bears’ tight end room. He explained that Loveland is a red zone threat and a seam stretcher.
“Colston Loveland is “The Locksmith” because no defense has the key to stop him.
He is a matchup nightmare who had 75% of his catches go for a 1st down. Red zone threat. Seam stretcher. Blocker with bite. Caleb Williams got another WEAPON.”

The national media seems to be giving Ryan Poles and Ben Johnson a lot of praise for the surprising draft selection.
Loveland joins legendary company as he is now the third tight end to be drafted in the first round of the NFL draft by the Bears. The other two? Greg Olsen and Mike Ditka. Hopefully, the former Wolverine can live up to the high expectations.
