Terrell Edmunds, Tennessee Titans
Poles could look for backup help and select a prospect in the draft to become the starter. Combining the prospect with Jaquan Brisker would give the Chicago Bears a young, athletic duo in the secondary. Terrell Edmunds can be the veteran there to back up and help the rookie.
Edmunds was the Pittsburgh Steelers’ first-round pick in 2018. He played there until 2022. In 2023, he signed with the NFC champions Philadelphia Eagles. However, midway through the season, the Eagles traded him to the Tennessee Titans. Now he becomes a free agent again.
Edmunds is not a flashy or great player. He is, however, a very stable player. He won’t make a lot of mistakes and can make a play or two that helps the defense. Having a player like that is preferable to having a boom or bust safety. We’ve seen too many times over the past several seasons players getting beat on big plays. Sure, players will get beat. However, the players need to keep those to a minimum. That is what Edmunds does.
Edmunds gives the Chicago Bears defense some flexibility. He can play free safety, strong safety, or slot corner. At 6-foot-1, 217 pounds, he is big enough to handle tight ends and quick enough to cover most receivers. He would be a good addition to the Chicago Bears’ defense.
