Antoine Winfield, Jr., Tampa Bay Buccaneers
Antoine Windfield Jr was the Tampa Bay Buccaneers second-round pick in 2020. He has the NFL in his blood. His father had a 14-year career with the Minnesota Vikings and Buffalo Bills. He was a three-time Pro Bowl player. His son learned well. In four seasons he already has a Pro Bowl and an All-Pro selection under his belt. Now he is ready to hit his prime and reward whatever team picks him up.
If you have not noticed, versatility is the name of the game. Winfield is excellent whether he is at free safety, strong safety, or slot corner. He has no trouble whether he is in a single-high or two-high coverage shell. Washington will have a field day moving him around.
In 2023, Winfield was all over the field. He became an All-Pro after he recorded 3 interceptions, 6 forced fumbles (led the league), 4 fumble recoveries, 122 tackles (career high), 12 passes defended, and 6 sacks. He also padded his stats by being the #1 popcorn seller at halftime.
There are reports of Tampa Bay possibly using the franchise tag on Winfield. Seeing how great of a safety he is, that would be expected. The Bucs have a few needs, including trying to keep quarterback Baker Mayfield. They may be forced to let Winfield walk. Tampa Bay’s loss could be the Chicago Bears’ gain.
