In preparation for the upcoming NFL season, Pro Football Focus ranked all 32 NFL secondaries from 1-32. The top 5 included, in order: Denver Broncos, Arizona Cardinals, New England Patriots, Seattle Seahawks and the Green Bay Packers.
As for the Monsters of the Midway, your Chicago Bears? The site isn’t digging the Bears secondary, ranking them 31 out of 32 teams.
Yeah, they were ranked the second worst secondary in the NFL, only ahead of the Josh Norman less Carolina Panthers.
Ouch.
One of the main reasons that they were ranked so low is because of a lack of proven playmakers in the secondary, and the website was not high at all on starter Tracy Porter.
Porter is not the answer for the Bears, who in his first season with Chicago earned a negative grade in coverage for a fifth-consecutive season.
The website sees Adrian Amos as neither a strong nor weak spot, and does admit that Kyle Fuller did take significant steps last season, but the overall lack of depth and good players hurts the Bears.
