The Chicago Bears have selected center Hroniss Grasu out of Oregon with the 71st overall pick in the 2015 NFL Draft.
With the loss of Roberto Garza in the offseason, the Bears are looking at the Oregon star as the potential future at the center position. Grasu is expected to compete with Will Montgomery for the starting center job throughout training camp.
The Bears last drafted a center in 1998, which worked out well for them. The Bears took Olin Kreutz that year and Kreutz would go on to become a staple on the Bears offense line for more than a decade.
The 6-foot-3, 297 pound center missed three games last season with an ankle injury. He does have a connection to the team as he is good friends with Bears guard Kyle Long who also played his college football at Oregon.
