The Chicago Bears land defensive lineman Akiem Hicks
Just a few days after he was at Halas Hall to meet with the Bears, the team’s brass got the deal done. The Bears announced on Sunday night that they have signed defensive tackle Akiem Hicks to a 2-year-deal.

The 26-year-old played for the New Orleans Saints for the first three years of his career before playing 2015 with the New England Patriots. His familiarity with General Manager Ryan Pace likely played a big role in his signing with the Bears.
In four seasons, Hicks has recorded 78 solo tackles, 9.5 sacks, a forced fumble and a fumble recovery.
With the addition of Hicks, along with linebackers Danny Trevathan and Jerrell Freeman, the Bears defense certainly has improved on paper this offseason. Hicks fills a void on the defensive line and improves it right away. There is still some work to be done, but the Bears now have some flexibility with the upcoming draft.
