The end of the Robbie Gould era in Chicago is here.
According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, the Chicago Bears are expected to release veteran kicker Robbie Gould. The move comes just a day after the Bears made final roster cuts and go to the 53-player mark.
Bears have informed Pro Bowl kicker Robbie Gould that he is being released, league source tells ESPN.

The 34-year-old Gould joined the Bears in 2005 and was pretty consistent throughout his career in Chicago. He even hit this kick to send the Bears to the 2007 NFC Championship Game:
In 2015 he struggled a bit, missing 6 field goals including a game-tying attempt against San Francisco late in the season.
Many believed the Bears would bring in some competition for Gould at training camp, but that was not the case. Instead the team decided to move on from Gould and it will save them $3M in cap space in 2016.
