How does Hard Knocks affect the team?
For the first time in franchise history, the Chicago Bears will be featured on HBO’s Hard Knocks. The team has been hesitant on being featured. Team officials feel the show could be a distraction.
As mentioned earlier, however, this year is different. With all of the changes made and with a “generational” talent like Williams leading the offense, the NFL world is suddenly interested in the Chicago Bears again.
Once again, this team is reminiscent of the 1985 Super Bowl champion Chicago Bears. There are characters on this team. There are stars on this team. Then there is Williams. He will be the star of the show both on and off the field. He already comes from Hollywood so he is perfect for this.
The Bears still have a concern about how the players handle the attention. However, this seems like a group that will respond to this. We saw the Detroit Lions two years ago. They were on the show and people responded positively. They became popular and it catapulted them.
They did not make the playoffs but came close. Then, last season, they were America’s sweethearts. Detroit was the favorite to win the NFC North. Many even felt they could get to the Super Bowl. That nearly happened.
The nation fell in love with the Lions. They could do the same with the Chicago Bears. We fans already know a lot of the quality players on the roster. We will be seeing even more of them this year. The secret of the Chicago Bears will be let out with the show.
The Chicago Bears have been a conservative football team intent on living in the past. They are still milking the 1985 team. It is time for them to enter the modern-day NFL. This show is the beginning. Once the national audience gets a taste of what the Chicago Bears are, they will fall in love with them the same way we are.
