The Chicago Blackhawks have placed Corey Crawford on injured reserve and called up goaltender Jean-Francois Berube from the Rockford IceHogs.
At this time the severity of Crawford’s injury and how he was injured is unclear. During Thursday’s game against the Dallas Stars Crawford was slow to get up after making a save but he was able to finish the game.

Crawford is 11-7-2 with a .930 SV% and has arguably been the best player on the Blackhawks as of late making huge saves to give the Blackhawks a fighting chance every game. This is a huge blow to the Blackhawks and could put the season in jeopardy until we learn more about Crawford’s injury.
The Blackhawks will have to rely on goalies Anton Forsberg and Jean-Francios Berube. Forsberg is 1-2-2 with a .904 SV% as backup goalie with the Blackhawks.
Berube is 6-6-0 with a .913 SV% in 12 games with the Rockford IceHogs. Hopefully Forsberg and Berube can step up and show what they’re worth to the Blackhawks or else this could be a miserable stretch in Crawford’s absence.
Forsberg should be in line to start Saturday’s game against the Dallas Stars at 8:00 PM CT.
