The Chicago Bulls currently sit at 18-25 and are tenth in the Eastern Conference standings but have been playing like one of the bottom teams in the league as of late.
With the Bull’s season not going as planned and the NBA Trade Deadline a little over two weeks away the Bulls could be sellers at the deadline with stars like Zach LaVine and Nikola Vucevic drawing the most interest from teams.
Recently ending their five-game losing streak with a win over the LA Clippers but receiving news that point guard Coby White could miss time due to an ankle injury, the Bulls could sell off a lot of their valuable assets and plunge into a full-fledged rebuild per reports.
Could the Chicago Bulls’ top trade asset
Zach LaVine is the top asset that the Bulls have to trade away, and he could bring back a decent package of players and picks if the Bulls do decide to go into a rebuild. LaVine for the season is averaging 24 points, 4.8 rebounds, and 4.5 assists which should’ve netted him an All-Star nod, but for some reason was snubbed from this year’s All-Star team. LaVine has also stayed healthy this season playing in 39 of the Bull’s 44 total games when he only played a total of 25 last season.
The one knock LaVine has against him that hurts his trade value is his contract in which he is owed $136 million for the next three seasons. With that being the case for LaVine the Bulls could look to trading fan favorite Coby White to get a better package back.
Would the Bulls trade White?
Since the Bulls season hasn’t gone as planned and with how they have been playing recently, all signs point towards the Bulls being sellers at the deadline. According to Evan Sidery an NBA contributor at Forbes he reports that all signs in the league are pointing to the Bulls going into a rebuild and them willing to listen to offers for White.
“Noise is growing louder around the Bulls going all-in on a full-scale rebuild, which could include trading Coby White. White is valued highly by Chicago, but they appear open to listening to trade offers as he would net the most significant return of any player on their roster.”

The 24-year-old White would indeed bring back a significant return as Sidery says with White being a solid player in his career so far and providing great production for the Bulls this season averaging 18.2 points, 3.4 rebounds, 4.7 assists, and shooting 81.6% from the free throw line. White also has a more manageable contract than LaVine with only being owed $12.9 million for next season before becoming a free agent.
The trade deadline
I believe the Bulls will likely find a trade partner for Nikola Vucevic being he is also playing like an All-Star and is on a manageable contract with being owed $21.5 million for next season.
As for White, yes, he would bring back a decent haul for the rebuild, but you also need someone of his skill set to build around and come out of that rebuild with.
After the next two weeks, the Bulls roster can look completely different with three of their starters drawing trade interest and one of their top bench pieces Lonzo Ball also drawing interest from teams.
