Tyus Jones (Guard)
Last season: 8.7 points and 4.4 assists in 21 minutes per game
This one is a stretch for several reasons. Jones has already made it clear he intends to be a starter in this league, which is something he will not see in Chicago unless Lonzo Ball were to remain sidelined with his injury.
Jones has tools though. Tools that would benefit Chicago via his playmaking and scoring. Jones averaged 15 points and 7 assists as a starter for Memphis’ final three playoff games. Looking at one of his best games earlier this year, Jones’ ball-handling is smooth as silk and his decision-making is up with the better guards in the league. Jones has a natural ability to keep a stagnant offense (such as the Bulls during the postseason) alive and running. He also shows no hesitation in shooting and knocking down the open shots.
It remains important for the Chicago Bulls to stay ahead in a league dominated by guards. With Lonzo Ball’s injury still lingering and Zach LaVine yet to make any sign of commitment to coming back to Chicago, the Bulls need to scope out the best guards available. Guards that can both ignite the offense and help with the scoring so it is not just DeMar DeRozan carrying the scoring load every night.
