Derrick Rose and the Bulls moved two games ahead of the Boston Celtics on Friday night as they knock off the Memphis Grizzlies, 99-96.
Tony Allen started jawing at the Chicago bench after an open floor dunk he slammed down in the first quarter— yelling at the United Center crowd, “This is my house!”
He continued trash-talking the Bulls’ bench until veteran official Joey Crawford finally gave him a technical foul.
It was a grind-it-out game which the team had to fight it out. There will surely be some bumps and bruised after this one. Memphis scored 90 of their game total 96 points from inside three-point range. Zach Randolph and Marc Gasol were bruisers on the block and anchored the unrelenting attack of all of the Memphis Grizzlies athletic wing men.
Derrick Rose struggled mightily from the field— only shooting 6-of-22.
However, Rose did manage to hit a falling away jumper off of one leg in a scamble for a loose ball just before the first half expired.
And at the end of the game, Derrick Rose crossed right by the loud Tony Allen for and and-one lay-up— just a few seconds after being tripped up by Allen on a previous possession.
It is fair to say Derrick took exception with the fellow Chicago-native Tony Allen proclaiming the U.C. was his house, earlier in the game.
Everybody knows who runs the Madhouse on Madison. And he has a red #1 over his chest.
With the loss the Celtics underwent at the hands of the Charlotte Bobcats, the Bulls have moved into the driver’s seat atop of the Eastern Conference. They currently hold a two game lead as they head to Milwaukee to face the Bucks coming to town on Saturday night.
