The Chicago Bulls are reportedly looking to get rid of point guard Derrick Rose.
The news comes a day after ESPN Insider Chad Ford reported that the Minnesota Timberwolves are looking to add Jimmy Butler to their team in exchange for the fifth overall selection in this year’s NBA Draft.

Rose is heading into the final year of his contract, one that was given to him immediately following his MVP season. Chicago’s native son has been injury plagued since his historic MVP season, with a torn ACL and two meniscus surgeries as well as a broken eye bone suffered at the start of last year’s training camp.
Last year was Rose’s healthiest since the initial ACL tear, playing in 66 games and averaging 16.4 points, 4.7 assists and 3.4 rebounds on 42.7% shooting in 31.4 minutes per game.
The report didn’t name specific teams that may be interested in Rose, but one circulating throughout “basketball twitter” is the Philadelphia 76ers, thanks to their lack of a true mainstay at the point guard position, as well as the their abundance of assets in not only this draft but upcoming drafts as well.
Much of the speculation comes from the notion that Rose and Jimmy Butler cannot play together due to their similar playing styles and differences in leadership.
Still, it seems a bit premature to break up the duo, given the lack of playing time the two have had in the last five years mainly accredited to injuries suffered by both.
