Goran Dragic
2021-22 Stats: 16 games played, 7.3 points, 4.8 assists, 3.2 rebounds per game
Goran has made it clear he is open to any role since being signed by Chicago this past summer. During the Bulls Media Day, he stated:
“I got lot of experience and can be a vocal guy in the locker room if they need me. I can come from the bench and be the spark. I’m at that point of my career-whatever is needed from me, I’m glad to do it.”
Taking a look at his numbers from last season, the 36-year-old veteran averaged 10.5 points, 1.5 assists, and 4.5 rebounds for the Nets during the postseason. Now entering his 14th NBA season, Dragic has been active over the summer, competing in the 2022 FIBA EuroBasket competition. His performance during those international games is a reel worth watching, as he proves he has plenty left in the tank and can compete at the elite level for any team looking to become a contender this season.
When it comes to deciding whether he’s the fit as Chicago’s starting point guard, there are pros and cons. Some of the pros are obviously within his many years of experience and savvy skill to hit open defenders while also finding ways of scoring from time to time. His style of play would accommodate ball-dominant players such as DeMar DeRozan and Zach LaVine when running the offense, as he’s proven he can hit open jumpers. The downside remains whether he could be able to keep up with the speed and explosiveness of today’s NBA guards. His numbers have also dropped considerably in the past two seasons.
