Ayo Dosunmu
2021-22 Stats: 77 games played, 8.8 points, 3.3 assists, 2.8 rebounds per game
Starting the 22-year-old Dosunmu would be an interesting move, to say the least. The 6’5” guard from Illinois is now just entering his second season as a pro after a solid rookie year for Chicago. In last season’s playoffs, Ayo underperformed and also did not get much playing time (17 minutes per game), but those were just four games against the Milwaukee Bucks.
Entering a fresh new season and oozing with potential, Dosunmu has plenty more to show off for Chicago. He stayed actively working on his overall game and strength during the offseason. He’s been able to also use his length and speed to keep up with the league’s best guards during his rookie season.
All in all, there is nothing but excitement when it comes to Ayo for many Bulls fans solely because of the opportunity he will get again this season. He’s proven he’s got what it takes to make a difference on the floor and with an uptick to his offensive output this season, he would be the best fit to be the starter in Ball’s absence.
During his rookie season, Dosunmu started in 40 out of the 77 games. He is now familiar with what it is like playing against the elite athletes of the NBA and making a contribution to his team. Whether he starts or not, we can expect Dosunmu to get more playing time each night and have all the chances to become a future starter for this team.
