The Chicago Bulls entered the nation’s capitol and went head-to-head with John Wall and his Washington Wizards on Monday night. In a game that had 32 turnovers (Chicago’s 17 to Washington’s 15), the Bulls put the clamps down on defense and held the Wizards to 36% shooting from the field and battered the Wizards 56-39 on the boards. So in the end it was the Chicago Bulls defeating the Washington Wizards in a 105-77 rout.
Joakim Noah came out of the gates strong and gave the Bulls an early lead. He ended the game with a double-double (19 points and 11 rebounds).
Luol Deng continued his strong play and scored 21 points on 9-of-17 shooting. Deng has answered his critics this season who said that he was unworthy of his big contract. His defense, rebounding and scoring have been an instrumental force for the Bulls and a huge reason why they sit at 41-17, and already have as many wins as at the end of last season here in February.
Derrick Rose made up for his poor shooting early on with his stiffling defense 0n John Wall. He held Wall in-check by only allowing him to score 9 points on a lowly 3-of-14 shooting night from the field. Rose also had a series of defensive stops leading to two stylish passes— one wheeling pass to Joakim Noah under the rim and another to Luol Deng on the break for a dunk.
The young and talented Wizards’ guard John Wall again proved to be no match for Derrick Rose who accelerated past the much smaller Wall a number of times during the course of the game.
This victory for the Bulls was their seventh in their past eight games. But their next three opponents will all be on the road— first against former Bulls’ guard Kirk Hinrich and the Atlanta Hawks. Then, they will continue their southeastern tour as they head to Florida to take on the Orlando Magic and then will take their talents down to South Beach to face the avenge-seeking Miami Heat.
