The Chicago Bulls finally had a victory against one of the better teams in the NBA defeating the Devener Nuggets 129-121 on Monday night.
The Bulls were able to secure a victory off the backs of their young group of stars such as Matas Buzelis, Josh Giddey, and Patrick Williams who was removed from the starting lineup before the game.
Williams in his new role with the reserves was able to find his confidence and help lead the Bulls to victory.
A resounding victory
Patrick Williams has not had the best month of January so far with only averaging 7 points, 2.9 rebounds, and 2.2 assists in 25.7 minutes. After being removed from last night’s starting lineup in favor of Lonzo Ball and Ayo Dosunmu.
Williams in his new role with the reserves was outstanding and looked to regain his confidence with having 11 points, 8 rebounds, 3 assists, and shot 41.7% from the field in 28 minutes. Even though Williams didn’t start the game he was a part of the final push to secure the win for the Bulls as Bulls insider K.C. Johnson reported.
“Patrick Williams has 11 points, 8 rebounds, and 3 assists and is closing the game after not starting it”

Williams after the game heaped praise on Donovan for using him in the reserve role with said he felt he had more scoring opportunities with the second unit. Bulls guard Zach LaVine was so proud of Williams expressing:
“LaVine on Williams: “I’ve been on him because I know how good he can be.”

The Bulls reserves according to Johnson lead the Nuggets in the 4th quarter thanks to a 13-0 run led by Dalen Terry who had 13 points in 11 minutes.
“Bulls reserves open 4th with 11-0 run. Dalen Terry has 13 points in 11 minutes.”

The rookie impresses in his first major action
Head Coach Billy Donovan finally heard fans’ pleas to give their 20-year-old rookie more playing time by making Buzelis the sixth man for last night’s game. In 20 minutes of action, Buzelis put up decent numbers collecting 9 points, 4 rebounds, 2 assists, and shot 80% from the field and and was perfect from three.
This was a good showing for Buzelis not only to get more minutes but to show he is a player to build around with being named as an ‘untouchable’ player in trade talks. Buzelis should see a lot more action and use as the Bulls’ sixth man moving forward.
The success needs to continue for the Chicago Bulls
The Bulls need to bottle up this win and carry it with them over to tomorrow’s game against the defending champions the Boston Celtics.
Hopefully, in both their new roles Williams and Buzelis can keep their successes rolling.
The Bulls needed this win having gone through such a hard skid recently.
