The Chicago Bulls are stuck in limbo at the moment.
After last night’s 110-94 loss to the Atlanta Hawks, it marked the team’s 3rd straight defeat. Sitting not-so-comfortably at the 10 seed in the weak Eastern Conference with an 18-23 record, the Bulls will now need to focus on getting back in the win column tomorrow, as they face off against the Charlotte Hornets.
It seems like each day brings another Bulls trade rumor involving almost anyone on the roster, including stars Nikola Vucevic and Zach Lavine. This must be taking a toll on the guys in the locker room, who seemingly do this every year, sit around the 10 seed and hope for a play-in tournament win.
Chicago Bulls 3rd-straight loss prompts Nikola Vucevic’s comment
Vucevic has been a hot topic all over the NBA trade world, as it seems quite likely that he’ll be in another uniform come the February 6th trade deadline. Even with that being said, Nikola has been very vocal about the team’s lack of success, especially last night in the locker room after the tough loss. KC Johnson of the Chicago Tribune filled fans in on the social media platform, X, last night.
Coby White said Nikola Vucevic spoke up most vocally in the postgame locker room.
Vucevic’s message, according to White: “Stop doing the dumb stuff we’ve been doing.”
White said team then talked about sticking together through this adverse stretch.

“Stop doing the dumb stuff we’ve been doing.”
Sheesh, that speaks volumes. Did he mean over the course of this season, or during his entire tenure here with the Bulls? Either would make sense. Guys like Lavine, Patrick Williams, and newly acquired Josh Giddey have not performed well enough as of late to think a turnaround is coming anytime soon.
24-year-old guard Coby White seems like the future of this franchise, if there is one. Last night he led the charge in the losing effort, with 16 points and 6 assists.
Will Nikola Vucevic be playing for the Bulls at this time next season?
After this season, Vucevic will have one year left on his deal, so it makes sense for the Bulls to try and move on from the veteran big man now. With his value being at an all-time high due to his play of late, I believe Chicago needs to make a move before the deadline in order to get the most out of him.
It seemed like earlier in the season, the Bulls could possibly make a run, with Lonzo Ball getting healthy and Josh Giddey joining the team. Coby White has also shown lots of promise and seems determined to get this ship turned in the right direction.
However, over the past few weeks, it’s been apparent that will unlikely happen. Vucevic could help a number of fringe NBA contenders down the stretch, so the market will surely be there. The question is whether or not Chicago Bulls GM Marc Eversley will get a decent return.
