The Chicago Bulls are in the midst of a bad season and they could look to trade one of their stars away with a proposed trade being thrown out there.
The Chicago Bulls are having a mediocre season to say the least with currently having a record of 18-21 and sitting tenth in the Easter Conference. The Chicago Bulls have two valuable trade pieces in Zach LaVine and Nikola Vucevic and it’s appears Vucevic is getting a lot of interest with a recent trade proposal sending him to the Golden State Warriors.
The 2024-2025 season for Nikola Vucevic
The 34-year-old Nikola Vucevic is having a solid season for the Chicago Bulls with playing to an All-Star caliber level, which both Vucevic and Zach LaVine being left off this years ballot. For the season Vucevic is averaging 20.2 points, 10.1 rebounds, 3.3 assist, and shooting 55.7% from the field and decent 42.9% from behind deep. Nikola Vucevic has also proven to be reliable at the free throw line with having a solid 80% free throw percentage.
Nikola Vucevic has been the subject of trade rumors for some time now with both the Golden State Warriors and Los Angeles Lakers having the most interest. In a recent trade proposals published in Hoops Wire by Sam Amico had Nikola Vucevic going to the Golden State Warriors for a package of three players and a draft pick.
- Warriors Receive: Nikola Vucevic
- Bulls Receive: Buddy Hield, Gary Payton II, Trayce Jackson-Davis, 2026 second-round pick, and 2029 second-round pick
Would the Chicago Bulls accept this offer?
According to NBA insider Brett Siegel he reports that the Warriors are in need of depth at the center position with current big man Jonathan Kuminga out with an ankle sprain. Making this move would not be beneficial for the Chicago Bulls to do with the return being poor.
Gary Payton II is having a poor season offensively with averaging 4.6 points, 2.8 rebounds, and 1.2 assist as well as not being able to stay on the court with only playing in 28 games this seasons and a total of just 88 games in the past four seasons. Buddy Hield is in the same boat offensively with just averaging 12.3, 3.4, 1.6 and shooting 41.6% from the field and 37.5% from three.
I feel if the Chicago Bulls were to make this trade they would be getting the bottom of the barrel in talent when they could get a better package for Nikola Vucevic elsewhere. Vucevic is on a manageable contract which he’s under until 2026 with him making $20 million this year and $21.481 for next season. If the Chicago Bulls can get a better pick in hopefully the late first round and getting a better package of talent back for Vucevic who is playing like an All-Star is the route the Bulls need to take if they’re to move on from Vucevic.
