Derrick Rose and the Chicago Bulls went into Orlando on Friday night with intent of beating fellow MVP-candidate Dwight Howard and his Magic.
What ensued was a defensive clinic by the Bulls, sparked by none other than Omer Asik.
Asik helped contain Dwight Howard on defense and added five points, two blocks and 13 rebounds in 31 minutes of relief for Joakim Noah (who was struggling with foul trouble).
The Bulls seemed to be in control of the game since nearly the onset because of their defense and rebounding. Chicago pounded Orlando 50-30 on the backboard- avenenging their December loss to the Magic, in which Joakim Noah was held to 0 rebounds and Chicago was decimated on the glass.
The final score was 89-81 in the Bulls’ favor. Asik was the difference maker in the game, but Derrick Rose scored 24 and Luol Deng added 16 points in the victory.
A frustrated Dwight Howard swung his elbows at Kyle Korver after being hit on the head by Joakim Noah. This resulted in Howard’s sixteenth techical foul of the season and will lead to a one-game suspension pending review by the league office.
