On Tuesday night, news broke that the Chicago Cubs and Kansas City Royals were in talks involving closer Wade Davis and outfielder Jorge Soler.
That deal officially happened on Wednesday.
Royals reporter Jeffery Flanagan of MLB.com confirmed the report on Wednesday afternoon as now the Cubs have added a closer to their bullpen:
It is official. Wade Davis to Cubs for Jorge Soler. #Royals

The deal makes sense for both teams. The Cubs get a closer after saying goodbye to Aroldis Chapman, improving their bullpen.
Davis has posted a 1.18 ERA in the past 3 years, giving up just 3 home runs in that span. In his postseason season appearances in 2014-15, he gave up just one earned run.
Soler was likely the odd man out in a crowded outfield rotation the Cubs are expected to have. So moving him in a deal to get a bullpen arm makes sense.
