We might be in the 2018 MLB season but one of the year’s biggest storylines will be regarding Bryce Harper and his future. The outfielder is entering the final year of his contract with the Washington Nationals and will be the big free agent prize in the next offseason.
The Nationals haven’t been able to win it all with Haper since he arrived in the big leagues in 2012 and if they can’t do it in 2018, the thought is he will leave and sign elsewhere.
There’s been multiple connections made with Harper and the Chicago Cubs, including his relationship with Kris Bryant who is also a Las Vegas native. Harper is also close with Cubs first baseman Anthony Rizzo.
But will Harper sign in Chicago? Vegas seems to think so.
According to Vegas, the Cubs have the best odds to sign Harper next offseason. Here are the full odds according to Action Network:
- Chicago Cubs +150
- Washington Nationals +250
- Los Angeles Dodgers +350
- San Francisco Giants +500
- Boston Red Sox +750
- New York Yankees +1000
- Field +225
Harper will be just 25-years-old for the 2018 season and is a career .285 hitter. He has 150 career home runs to go along with 421 RBI’s and won the NL MVP award in 2015.
In 2017, Harper hit .319 with 87 RBI and 29 home runs, helping lead the Nationals to a NL East Division title. They lost in the NLDS to the Cubs in five games.
With an entire 2018 season still left, anything can change but the Cubs-Harper rumblings continue.
