It’s official on the Northside. Joe Maddon is the next Chicago Cubs manager as the team has officially signed him to a 5-year contract.
Maddon is being welcomed with a press conference at the Cubby Bear on Monday, due to construction on Wrigley Field. Maddon will be the clubs 54th manager and their biggest managerial signing since Lou Piniella agreed to be the manager in 2007.
Maddon will have the goal to bring a World Series to the Northside with a potentially stacked lineup of prospects. The move could also help lure some big name free agents to Chicago.
