By now you have an idea of what the future of Wrigley Field will look like when renovations are completed. But now the Chicago Cubs have something else in store.
The Cubs released plans on Tuesday for a new private club in the stadium called the “American Airlines 1914 Club.” The club will be located under the home plate seats, as they plan on renovating the section in the future.
The 7,200-square-foot space will have three entrances: A main concourse entrance and two others in sections 16 and 24. The “VIP experience” will feature some upscale food and beverages, including an alcohol selection.
Crain’s Chicago hints at some higher ticket prices:
Individual-game seats behind the plate today—which do not include any other amenities—sell at face value for as much as $350 per game depending on the day and opponent. Expect that to go up significantly with the club and food and beverage thrown in.
The sponsorship of the new space comes from a deal the Cubs signed in 2015 with American Airlines as they move forward with the partnership. The Cubs released photos of what the new space will look like:
The team has created a site for experiences such as the new 1914 club as construction will begin following this season. The Cubs plan on selling premier tickets to the seats and will start taking requests.
