A new era of Chicago Cubs baseball is underway as the team hired David Ross as their manager following the decision to part ways with Joe Maddon.
As Theo Epstein and the front office move forward with Ross, there will certainly be some roster changes, especially after the Cubs failed to make the playoffs last season and were bounced early in 2018.
The Cubs have some young core pieces that they could move on from and try to rebuild on the fly with some prospects or major league-ready talent depending on the player. One of those players could be catcher Willson Contreras.
With a free agent class that features plenty of options at catcher, the Cubs could move on from Contreras according to one reporter:
Willson would likely bring in a nice return of young players and with needs all over, it might be smart for the Cubs to at least listen to offers. The other thing to keep in mind is that deep free agent class at catcher including Yasmani Grandal which will see a lot of interest from several teams.
